History

Following the hiatus of Red Sparowes, two members of that band, Emma Ruth Rundle (also formerly of the Nocturnes) and Greg Burns (ex-Halifax Pier), formed Marriages.[3] The group recorded the Kitsune EP with drummer Dave Clifford. It was released in 2012 on Sargent House,[2] and was followed by tours with Russian Circles and Chelsea Wolfe in 2012 and Deafheaven in 2013.[4][5] Clinco was brought in as a permanent member of the band, replacing Clifford.

In 2014, the group completed recording for their debut studio album, Salome, while Rundle simultaneously recorded and released her solo debut Some Heavy Ocean (she has also recorded under the name the Headless Prince of Zolpidem).[6] Salome was released on April 7, 2015 by Sargent House,[7] preceded by a U.S. tour with Helms Alee and followed by a European tour with Wovenhand.[8]

As of 2021, the band appears to have disbanded. Rundle stated in a Reddit AMA that there was "no intention" of further material from Marriages.[9] A 2021 tweet from Rundle confirmed her disassociation with the act.[10]
