The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra is a British professional symphony orchestra based in Oxford and is the Orchestra in Residence at the University of Oxford.[1] It was founded in 1998 by Marios Papadopoulos as the Oxford Philomusica and was renamed the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015.[2][3]
On June 7, 2022, the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra had its Carnegie Hall debut concert with soloist Maxim Vengerov.[4][5][6] Orchestral musicians consisted of core members of the Oxford Philharmonic and musicians from OPO's American branch, the American Friends of the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, which included violinists Gary Kosloski, Edward W. Hardy, and Nikita Morozov.[7][8]
