The Legendary Pink Dots est un groupe de rock anglo-néerlandais formé en août 1980 à Londres et expatrié en 1984 à Amsterdam. Leur style singulier est un mélange de rock psychédélique planant et d'une musique expérimentale, industrielle ou ambient, à tendance post-punk, new-wave ou techno-pop, avec parfois des influences world, jazzy ou progressives.

Un groupe prolifique et iconoclaste, l'un des plus intéressants et créatifs de la scène musicale anglaise. Il a publié près de 60 albums (sans compter les lives et les best of).

Membres

Les membres composant le noyau dur du groupe sont le vocaliste/ Auteur-compositeur/ clavieriste Edward Ka-Spel et le clavieriste Phil Knight.

Die Legendary Pink Dots (LPD) sind eine anglo-niederländische Experimental-Rock-Formation, die im August 1980 in London gegründet wurde und 1984 nach Amsterdam übersiedelte. Den Kern der Band bilden Sänger und Mastermind Edward Ka-Spel (der auf der Bühne immer wieder an Risse gemahnende Linien im Gesicht trug) und Keyboarder Phil Knight (besser bekannt als „The Silverman“). Ansonsten gehörten der Band über die Jahre und Jahrzehnte um die drei Dutzend Mitstreiter an. Darunter sind besonders der Violinist Patrick Q. Wright (1984–1989) und der Bassist/Schlagzeuger Ryan Moore (1992–2000) hervorzuheben.

The Legendary Pink Dots (LPD) are an Anglo-Dutch experimental rock band formed in London in August 1980.[1] In 1984, the band moved to Amsterdam, playing with rotating musicians and having, as core members, singer/songwriter/keyboardist Edward Ka-Spel and keyboardist Phil Knight. In 2022, founding member and synthesist Philip Knight retired from touring, and Randall Frazier (Orbit Service, A Star Too Far) joined the band on synths, samples and electronics.
