The Warning est un groupe de rock mexicain, originaire de Monterrey. Il est formé en 2013 [1] par trois sœurs. Daniela (guitare, chant, piano[2]), Paulina (batterie, chant, piano), et Alejandra Villarreal (basse, piano, chœurs) sont mieux connues pour leur reprise du morceau Enter Sandman de Metallica, postée sur leur page YouTube[3],[4],[5],[6],[7],[8], attirant l'intérêt de Muse et Coldplay notamment.

Biographie


La batteuse Paulina Villarreal Vélez est interviewée par le Tom Tom Magazine, un an avant le succès de la reprise du morceau Enter Sandman par The Warning[9]. Le guitariste de Metallica, Kirk Hammett, félicite la prestation de Pau sur Enter Sandman, expliquant que « la batteuse assure grave[6] ! »

En 2015, The Warning récolte assez de fonds sur GoFundMe pour la sortie d'un EP de six morceaux originaux intitulé Escape the Mind[10]. La popularité de cette reprise de Enter Sandman les mène à apparaitre à l'émission The Ellen DeGeneres Show le [4],[11].

Rock Band 4 a principalement influencé le groupe, et deux de leurs morceaux sont compris dans le jeu. Le morceau issu de leur EP, Free Falling, est inclus dans Rock Band 4, et un morceau de leur album, Survive, est publié en téléchargement libre pour l'extension Rivals en 2016[12].

The Warning publie leur premier album, XXI Century Blood, en 2017[4]. Cette même année, elles jouent en ouverture pour Def Leppard au Forum Arena Monterrey[13]. Le groupe sort un en 2018 un deuxième album, Queen of the Murder Scene, enregistré aux Sphere Studios de Los Angeles.

Le 09 aout 2020, le groupe signe son premier contrat avec Lava records, filiale d'Universal Republic Records.[14]

Sortie, le , de Mayday[15],[16], un EP six titres prélude à la publication prochaine de leur troisième album.

Engagé durant le printemps 2022 dans une tournée en Amérique du Nord, le groupe sort, le 24 juin 2022, son nouvel album, ERROR[17], comprenant le précédent EP, le single Money, ainsi que sept titres inédits.

The Warning ist eine mexikanische Rock-Band aus Monterrey. Die Schwestern Daniela „Dany“ Villarreal Vélez (* 30. Januar 2000), Paulina „Pau“ Villarreal Vélez (* 5. Februar 2002) und Alejandra „Ale“ Villarreal Vélez (* 13. Dezember 2004)[1] begannen, ermutigt und gefördert durch ihre Eltern, alle drei in frühester Kindheit zunächst eine (klassische) Klavierausbildung und anschließend eine Ausbildung an ihrem jeweiligen Band-Instrument. Als Band spielen sie seit 2013 zusammen [2], gemanagt von ihrem Vater Luis Villarreal und Rudy Joffroy. Angebote von Plattenlabels lehnten sie zunächst ab, um ihre musikalische Integrität ohne Einschränkungen bewahren zu können; sie vertrieben ihre Musik über einen eigenen Online-Store sowie die bekannten Download-Plattformen und finanzierten sich darüber hinaus via Crowdfunding. Seit 2020 sind sie bei Lava Records unter Vertrag.
