Storia

I membri si conoscono nel 1993 e registrano la loro prima canzone nei primi mesi del 1994. Il gruppo pubblicò l'album Mafia alla fine del 1995 e permise alla band di firmare per la Cat Music. Negli anni a venire, pubblicheranno vari album, Născut şi crescut în Pantelimon (1996), IV: Deasupra tuturor (1997) e De Cartier (1998), quest'ultimo è l'album dei B.U.G. Mafia più venduto in assoluto. Nel 2000 pubblicano 2 album, După blocuri e Întotdeauna pentru totdeauna e nel 2003 esce Băieţii Buni. Il gruppo pubblica il loro ottavo album solo nel 2011, ovvero Înapoi În Viitor.

B.U.G. Mafia (an abbreviation for"Bucharest Underground Mafia"), is a Romanian hip hop group from Pantelimon, Bucharest, widely regarded as one of the seminal acts of gangsta rap in Romania. Founded in 1993 as Black Underground, its original lineup consisted of Vlad "Tataee" Irimia, Dragoș "Caddy" (short for Cadillac) Vlad-Neagu and two other members, D.D. and Mr.Nobody, who, by the end of the year, had already departed from the group.[1] Irimia and Vlad-Neagu, who were still teenage high school students at the time, had been working on amateur solo recordings and had little professional prospects on their own prior to their encounter.[2] The group initially performed as a duo throughout Bucharest at local highschool proms and parties while considering their options for professional careers in music and, following a string of relatively unsuccessful attempts at promoting their music in English, they recruited Alin "Uzzi" Demeter in 1995 and eventually transitioned to writing in Romanian.[3][4]

B.U.G. Mafia, ou simplement Mafia, est un groupe de hip-hop roumain, originaire de Pantelimon. Son style musical s'inspire un peu de la West Coast américaine. Certaines personnes pensent que le nom veut dire « Bucuresti Under Ground Mafia », d'autres disent que le nom vient de « Black UnderGround Mafia ». Formé en 1993 sous le nom de Black Underground, la formation originale comprend Vlad « Tataee » Irimia, Dragoș « Caddillac » Vlad-Neagu et deux autres membres, D.D. et Mr. Nobody, qui quitte le groupe à la fin de l'année[1]. Irimia et Vlad-Neagu, étaient étudiants à cette période, et travaillaient sur des albums solo[2]. Le groupe joue à l'origine comme duo à Bucarest pendant les bals de promos au lycée puis, après plusieurs échecs pour adopter l'anglais dans leur musique, ils recrutent Alin « Uzzi » Demeter en 1995 et font finalement la transition de leurs paroles en roumain[3],[4].
