La band è stata fondata nel 2000 da L. Wachtfels (chitarra), Mayhemic Destructor (batteria), Iblis (voce) e Cruor (basso). Kiel. L. Wachtfels e Mayhemic Destructor avevano precedentemente suonato nei Tauthr, mentre Iblis e Cruor provenivano dagli Octoria. Essi descrivono la loro musica come

Il testo fa riferimento, in larga misura, alle esperienze personali e alle opinioni dei membri della band. Nella sua auto-manifestazione, il gruppo si riferisce a delle note armi tedesche del periodo della seconda guerra mondiale. Questo, in aggiunta ai testi della band, è per molti critici l'indicazione di un'affinità di destra estremista all'interno della band. Gli Endstille hanno chiaramente preso le distanze da tali etichette, spiegando di non avere alcun simpatie per le idee di destra e dicendo che il black metal «è nel suo principio apolitico».

Nella primavera del 2006, gli Endstille intraprendono un tour europeo di grande successo con le band svedesi Dark Funeral e Naglfar e con, in apertura, la band finlandese death metal Amor.

Nel 2011 pubblicano Infektion 1813, un concept incentrato sul tema della capitolazione.[1]

Endstille is a black metal band from Germany. It was founded in 2000 by L. Wachtfels (guitar), Mayhemic Destructor (drums), Iblis (vocals) and Cruor (bass) in Kiel. L. Wachtfels and Mayhemic Destructor had previously played in the band Tauthr, while Iblis and Cruor came from the band Octoria. They describe their music as "ugliest aggressive black metal with the fire-speed of an MG42 and the power of heavy ship-artillery". The lyrics refer, to a large extent, to the personal experiences and opinions of the band members. In its self-manifestation, the group refers to well-known German weapons from the time of World War II. This, in addition to the band's lyrics, is sometimes seen an indication of a right-wing extremist affinity within the band. Endstille clearly dissociates itself from such labels, explains to have no sympathies for right-wing ideas and says black metal "is in its principle unpolitical".[1]
