Biografia
Il gruppo ha pubblicato 2 album prima dello scioglimento, avvenuto nel 1995. Successivamente c'è stata una breve "reunion" nel 1997, durante la quale non sono stati pubblicati ulteriori lavori. Tornano nuovamente insieme nel 2012 e, dopo qualche data dal vivo, durante l'anno successivo dichiarano di essere al lavoro con del nuovo materiale. Il 21 agosto 2017 viene annunciata la pubblicazione di un nuovo album e, il giorno successivo viene diffuso il nuovo singolo intitolato Illuminant.[2] Il 10 novembre 2017 è uscito il terzo album della band: Interiors.
Influenze
Ispirati dalla svolta post-hardcore di Ian MacKaye e dei suoi Fugazi,[1] e nonostante il loro breve periodo di attività, i Quicksand sono stati una band piuttosto influente nell'ambito del genere, tanto da esserne considerati una delle band fondatrici.[3] Tra i loro emuli spiccano i nomi di gruppi musicali di: At the Drive-In,[1] Grade,[1] Thursday,[1] e Absolve.[1]

Quicksand is an American post-hardcore band from New York City, founded in 1990. Their debut self-titled EP was followed by two major-label albums, Slip (1993) and Manic Compression (1995). Quicksand's sound has been compared to that of post-hardcore bands Fugazi and Helmet.[2] The band supported their releases with extensive touring but fell short of the mainstream success anticipated by their labels. These factors and internal stress led them to separate first in 1995 and again in 1999 following a failed year-and-a-half reunion.[3] In June 2012, Quicksand reunited for a special one-night performance and since has been playing additional live shows. The band's third album (and first full-length in 22 years), Interiors, was released on November 10, 2017, and it was followed four years later by their latest album Distant Populations (2021).[es] Quicksand (banda)
