Storia

Formata nel 1981 a Oak Harbor (Washington) dal bassista Chibon Batterman, da Dana Collins e dal chitarrista Tom Niemeyer. John Dahlin fu il cantante dal 1983 al 1984, quando cantante divenne Blaine Cook (ex frontman dei The Fartz) che portò nella band un suono più heavy metal. La band registrò cinque album negli anni '90.

Nel 2003 la band pubblico l'album "Oh, Martha!", inserito nella top ten degli album dell'anno dalla rivista Revolver magazine. Nel 2005 tre membri lasciarono la band per fondarne una nuova, i Toe Tag. Niemeyer reclutò così Brad Mowen, Mike Peterson, e Prof. Iman A. Phid per continuare la carriera dei The Accused.

The Accüsed ist eine US-amerikanische Hardcore-Punk-Band aus Oak Harbor, Washington. Die Band löste sich 1992 auf, gründete sich 2003 jedoch wieder neu. Ihren Stil bezeichnet die Band selbst als „Splatter Rock“. Neben der Band existiert ebenfalls das Maskottchen „Martha Splatterhead“, das die Gestalt eines Zombies hat. Es wurde von Tommy Niemeyer entworfen und ist auf fast allen Alben der Band zu sehen. Auch die Lieder der Band handeln meist von „Martha Splatterhead“. Sowohl der Name des selbsterfundenen Genres, als auch der des Maskottchens sind von Splatterfilmen inspiriert.

The Accüsed is an American crossover thrash band from Seattle founded in 1981. The band was a progenitor of the crossover style that bridged the gap between thrashcore and thrash metal, later influencing grindcore and some crust punk bands; as well as an influential band in the Seattle area alternative scene. The band calls their music "splattercore", and their zombie mascot, Martha Splatterhead, appears on most of their albums. Common themes involve social issues and Martha Splatterhead coming back from the dead to slaughter rapists and child molesters.
