Storia del gruppo
Il loro debutto discografico risale al 1978 e la loro attività musicale è continuata fino al 1983, quando il cantante Feargal Sharkey ha deciso di intraprendere la carriera solista.[2] I fratelli John e Damian O'Neill trasferitisi a Londra hanno dato vita ai That Petrol Emotion. Nel 1999 il gruppo si è riunito ma con un nuovo cantante Paul McLoone.
Tra i loro maggiori successi, Teenage Kicks (1978) canzone tra le preferite da John Peel[2] tanto da far incidere il verso "Are teenage dreams so hard to beat?" come epitaffio sulla lapide[3], Jimmy Jimmy e My Perfect Cousin (1980) unica hit ad entrare nella Top 10.

From 1975 to 1983, the Undertones consisted of Feargal Sharkey (vocals), John O'Neill (rhythm guitar, vocals), Damian O'Neill (lead guitar, vocals), Michael Bradley (bass, vocals) and Billy Doherty (drums).[5] Much of the earlier Undertones material drew influence from punk rock and new wave; the Undertones also incorporated elements of rock, glam rock and post-punk into material released after 1979, before citing soul and Motown as the influence for the material released upon their final album.[6] The Undertones released thirteen singles and four studio albums between 1978 and 1983 before Sharkey announced his intention to leave the band in May 1983,[7] citing musical differences as the reason for the break up.[8][es] The Undertones
