Le Tokyo Performance Doll ( 東京パフォーマンスドール?), conosciute anche con la sigla TPD, erano un gruppo musicale J-pop composto solo da ragazze idol. Ispirate dalla girl band Onyanko Club, le TPD avevano sette membri principali e diversi altri membri "apprendisti" per le esibizioni live; questa formula sarebbe stata successivamente ripresa da diversi altri gruppi femminili, quali Morning Musume, Hello! Project ed AKB48. Basate a Tokyo, i creatori delle TPD lanciarono altre due band sorelle a rappresentare altre città, non solo in Giappone ma anche in Cina. Nel 1993 nacquero le Osaka Performance Doll, e nel 1996 fu la volta delle Shanghai Performance Dolls. Oltre a questi due gruppi gemelli, le TPD avevano anche dei sottogruppi, che tuttavia pubblicarono solo dei singoli e mai degli album, i quali erano pensati per essere pubblicati dal gruppo principale. I due membri delle TPD che avrebbero avuto più successo dopo lo scioglimento del gruppo furono Ryōko Shinohara, che si affermò come attrice, e Yuri Ichii delle East End X Yuri. Tra i membri "apprendisti", invece, furono Yoko Kamon e Yūko Fueki (Yoo Min) ad affermarsi.

Tokyo Performance Doll also known as TPD (東京パフォーマンスドール) is a J-pop idol girl group that existed from 1990 to 1996 and was revived in 2013. Inspired by Onyanko Club, it had seven main members and several other "trainees" for live performances, a formula later followed by Morning Musume, Hello! Project and AKB48. TPD was based in Tokyo, and launched sister-bands in other cities: Osaka Performance Doll in 1993 and Shanghai Performance Doll in 1996. TPD had numerous sub-groups that issued their own singles, while albums were issued collectively. Among TPD's main members were Ryoko Shinohara and East End X Yuri's Yuri Ichii. Trainee members included Yoko Kamon and Yuko Fueki (Yoo Min). In June 2013, it was announced that after 17 years, the group was being revived with an all new line up. [1] Their music has also been featured in anime series such as Ace Attorney, The Kindaichi Case Files, Ultimate Otaku Teacher, and Beatless. It was announced on May 27, 2021 that the group will be suspending all activities indefinitely after their concert on September 26, 2021 citing lack of events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [2]
