Horacio Salinas Álvarez (born 8 July 1951 in Lautaro, Cautín Province) is a Chilean guitarist and composer. He is cofounder and musical director of the Chilean group Inti-Illimani Histórico.[1] He has a huge repertory of compositions that involves folk, Andean music, protest music, world music, contemporary classical music and many Latin American styles and fusions. In 1973, his group was touring in Europe when Pinochet seized power in Chile, after which they had to stay in exile for years.[2] He has played with many international musicians notably the Australian classical guitarist John Williams.

Horacio Salinas (Lautaro, Región de la Araucanía; 8 de julio de 1951) es un músico chileno, compositor e intérprete de guitarra, charango, cuatro venezolano, tiple e instrumentos de cuerda en general. Fue director musical de Inti-Illimani entre 1967 y 2001, para la cual compuso más de ochenta piezas musicales, convirtiéndolo en el principal creador musical de dicha banda. Por desaveniencias musicales y personales, abandonó el grupo en 2001, para cofundar en 2004 Inti-Illimani Histórico, donde también ejerce como director musical.[1]
