Bernard Joseph Butler est un guitariste britannique, né le 1^er mai 1970 à Stamford Hill, un quartier du East London.

Sa carrière professionnelle commence quand il est sélectionné comme guitariste du groupe britannique Suede en 1989.

En 2004, il retrouve Brett Anderson, ex-comparse de Suede, avec qui il fonde le groupe The Tears et enregistre l'album Here Come The Tears.

À partir de 2008, il fait partie du groupe qui accompagne la chanteuse Duffy en tant que guitariste, pianiste et percussionniste.

En 2014, il accompagne l'ex Chanteur/Musicien d'Everything but the Girl, Ben Watt, sur son album, "Hendra" et la tournée qui promeut cet album.

Bernard Joseph Butler (born 1 May 1970) is an English musician, songwriter and record producer. He is best known as the first guitarist with Suede, until his departure in 1994. He has been hailed by some critics as the greatest guitarist of his generation;[1] BBC journalist Mark Savage called him "one of Britain's most original and influential guitarists".[2] He was voted the 24th greatest guitarist of the last 30 years in a national 2010 BBC poll[3] and is often seen performing with a 1961 cherry red Gibson ES-355 TD SV (Stereo Varitone) with a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece.
