Enfance


George Evelyn est né à Leeds[1]. Son père et sa sœur l'ont initié très jeune à la Soul de Quincy Jones et Curtis Mayfield[2]. Plus tard, il fut fasciné par des morceaux hip hop comme Rapper's Delight et Buffalo Gals[2].


Carrière


Nightmares on Wax a été formé à l'origine comme un projet commun avec John Halnon, puis plus tard avec Kevin Harper[3]. Le premier album studio, A Word of Science: The First and Final Chapter, est sorti chez Warp en 1991[4]. Après la sortie de cet album, Harper quitta le groupe pour poursuivre une carrière dans le DJing[5]. Robin Taylor-Firth devint un collaboration régulier d'Evelyn[3].

Le deuxième album studio intitulé Smokers Delight, toujours chez Warp, est sorti en 1995[6]. Il est placé à la 15ème place dans la liste des Fact's "50 Best Trip-Hop Albums of All Time"[6]. Evelyn sort l'album Carboot Soul en 1999[7], et Mind Elevation en 2002[8]. En 2005, Evelyn fonde son propre label Wax On[9].

Il sort In a Space Outta Sound en 2006[10], Thought So en 2008[11], Feelin' Good en 2013[12], et Shape the Future en 2018[13].

George Evelyn, conocido como Nightmares on Wax y también como DJ EASE (Experimental Sample Expert), es un DJ de Leeds, Reino Unido. Warp Records lanza su música y fue uno de los primeros artistas del sello. Evelyn comenzó en la industria de la música gracias a su interés en el hip-hop y se unió a un grupo local de breakdance donde conoció a Kevin Harper y juntos lanzaron su primer álbum en 1991, una grabación casi techno llamada "A Word Of Science: The First And Final Chapter".
