Nominato per il prestigioso Mercury Music Prize, Lakeman fece parte a diversi progetti musicali, tra cui quello con i suoi due fratelli, Sam Lakeman e Sean Lakeman. Si è affermato principalmente come solista.

Biografia

Seth Lakeman è nato a Buckland Monachorum, presso Yelverton, nel Devon. Comincia a suonare fin da piccolo con la sua famiglia e i fratelli Sam e Sean. I tre fratelli pubblicarono nel 1994 il loro album di debutto, (Three Piece Suite) con il nome di The Lakeman Brothers. Nel 2002, Seth pubblica il suo primo album solista, The Punch Bowl, che viene acclamato dalla critica inglese. Il secondo album, Kitty Jay, esce nel 2004. Dopo un lungo tour, Seth Lakeman si dedica al terzo album, Freedom Fields (2006), anticipato dal singolo Lady of the Sea, che riceve un discreto successo di pubblico e critica. Nel 2007, Seth fa da sostenitore a Tori Amos durante la parte europea del suo tour mondiale.

Seth Bernard Lakeman (born 26 March 1977) is an English folk singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, from Devon, who is most often associated with the fiddle and tenor guitar, but also plays the viola and banjo. Nominated for the 2005 Mercury Music Prize, Lakeman has belonged to several musical ensembles, including one with his two brothers, fellow folk musicians Sam Lakeman and Sean Lakeman, but has most recently established himself as a solo act.

Seth Bernard Lakeman (né le 26 mars 1977 à Buckland Monachorum) est un chanteur auteur-compositeur-interprète et multi-instrumentiste britannique. Il a été proposé pour le « Mercury Music Prize », l'équivalent en France du « Prix Constantin ». Ses compositions mêlent pop anglaise et musique celtique. Très peu connu en France, il connaît un certain succès en Angleterre depuis la parution de son album « Poor Man's Heaven ». En France, Seth ne s'est produit que deux fois, en 2007, en première partie de Tori Amos et en 2009 au « Marché international de l'édition musicale » (MIDEM) de Cannes.
