Donald Hall (* 20. September 1928 in New Haven, Connecticut; † 23. Juni 2018 in Wilmot, New Hampshire) war ein US-amerikanischer Dichter und der 14. Poeta laureatus der USA. Im Juni 2006 wurde er zum Poet Laureate ernannt, im Oktober trat er die Stelle an. 2007 trat sein Nachfolger Charles Simic ein. Hall hatte an der Harvard-Universität und auch an der Oxford-Universität studiert. Er war Mitglied der American Academy of Arts and Letters (seit 1989) und der American Academy of Arts and Sciences (seit 1996).

Donald Andrew Hall Jr.[1] (September 20, 1928 – June 23, 2018) was an American poet, writer, editor and literary critic. He was the author of over 50 books across several genres from children's literature, biography, memoir, essays, and including 22 volumes of verse. Hall was a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, Harvard, and Oxford.[2] Early in his career, he became the first poetry editor of The Paris Review (1953–1961), the quarterly literary journal, and was noted for interviewing poets and other authors on their craft.
