Biografia

Ha debuttato con l'album Tongues and Tails nel 1992, che ha avuto un buon successo permettendo all'artista di ottenere la candidatura al Grammy Award al miglior artista esordiente nel 1993. Il singolo che l'ha consacrata è Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover. Il suo secondo album è uscito nel 1994, prodotto da Stephen Lipson. Nel 1999 è uscito Timbre, terzo disco per la Columbia Records. Successivamente l'artista ha fondato una sua etichetta discografica, la Trumpet Swan Productions, che ha ristampato Timbre. Nel 2004 è uscito Wilderness.

Vita privata

Sophie Ballantine Hawkins (born November 1, 1967)[1] is an American singer-songwriter, musician and painter. Born in New York City, she attended the Manhattan School of Music for a year as a percussionist before leaving to pursue a music career.[2] She achieved critical and commercial success with her first two albums, producing a string of single hits including "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover", "Right Beside You", and "As I Lay Me Down". A dispute with her record label Sony Music over her third album, Timbre, led her to establish her own independent label, Trumpet Swan Productions, which has published her subsequent recordings.
