Biografia


Nata a Tulsa, Oklahoma, da padre russo e da madre sudcoreana,[1] sin da giovane ha dimostrato un immediato interesse per la danza, in particolare per il balletto, jazz, hip hop e tip tap. Durante gli anni di liceo ha mostrato interesse per la musica, entrando a far parte del coro dell'istituto e prendendo parte anche ad alcune gare corali a livello nazionale.[2]

Tra il 2016 e 2017, sotto lo pseudonimo Alex Christine, ha partecipato alle audizioni online per lo show Rising Legends, concorso ideato dalla JYP Entertainment dedicato al k-pop. Nonostante si sia classificata al primo posto nella categoria danza per entrambi gli anni, non è entrata in nessuno dei programmi di tirocinio della compagnia, firmando invece un contratto discografico con l'etichetta ZB.[3][4]

Nell'ottobre del 2019 pubblica il singolo di debutto Born, sotto lo pseudonimo AleXa.[5] Il successivo 13 dicembre viene incisa una nuova versione del singolo in collaborazione con il gruppo musicale rock Diablo.[6]

Nel 2020 pubblica A.I Trooper, singolo che anticipa l'uscita dell'EP d'esordio intitolato Do or Die e pubblicato il successivo 1º aprile. Nello stesso anno ha collaborato con le Dreamcatcher e gli IN2IT al singolo Be The Future per la campagna Millenasia Project supportata dall'organizzazione UNESCO per richiamare l'attenzione sull'importanza della salvaguardia e della sicurezza durante la pandemia di COVID-19.[7]

Nel 2022 AleXa è stata confermata fra i 56 artisti partecipanti all'American Song Contest, in rappresentanza dello stato dell'Oklahoma.[8] Arrivata in finale, si è aggiudicata il primo posto e ha avuto l'onore di esibirsi ai Billboard Music Award, consacrandosi come la prima cantante K-pop ad esibirsi su questo palco.

Alexandra Christine Schneiderman (born December 9, 1996), known professionally as AleXa (Korean: 알렉사) and formerly Alex Christine (알렉스 크리스틴), is an American singer based in South Korea. After competing in both seasons of the reality show Rising Legends, AleXa signed with Zanybros' ZB Label in 2018 and trained there for roughly two and a half years. During this time, she also competed on Mnet's Produce 48. She debuted as a K-pop singer in October 2019. In 2022, she represented her home state Oklahoma in NBC's American Song Contest with the song "Wonderland" where she won with 710 points.[1]
