Biografia

Figlia di immigrati napoletani, Cosima De Vito è cresciuta nel quartiere Hamilton Hill di Perth. È salita alla ribalta nel 2003, con la sua partecipazione all'edizione inaugurale del talent show Australian Idol. Si è dovuta ritirare nella semifinale per via di un problema di noduli vocali, che le hanno fatto perdere temporaneamente la voce.[1]

Nel 2004 è uscito il suo singolo di debutto, When the War Is Over / One Night Without You, che ha debuttato in vetta alla classifica australiana[2] ed è stato certificato disco di platino dall'Australian Recording Industry Association per aver venduto più di 70 000 copie a livello nazionale.[3] Il singolo ha anticipato l'album Cosima, che ha raggiunto il 2º posto in classifica[4] e ha ottenuto un disco d'oro.[5] Il suo secondo album, This Is Now, è uscito nel 2007, ma ha ottenuto scarso successo commerciale.

Cosima De Vito (born 1 November 1976), also known as Cosima, is an Australian pop and R&B singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, she is best known for her cover of the classic Australian hit "When the War Is Over" (2004) which reached No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart.[1] Her passion and love for the music industry stemmed from her influential grandfather, who was a gifted Italian tenor. From a young age, Cosima has performed, winning her first talent quest at the young age of 9. In 2003 Cosima appeared on the first season of Australian Idol. After reaching the semi-finals, Cosima had to withdraw from the series due to throat nodules.
