È conosciuto soprattutto per aver militato nei The Temptations tra il 1964 ed il 1968. Nel 1969 ha intrapreso la carriera solista. È deceduto a soli cinquant'anni per cause non chiare, probabilmente per droga.[1]

David Eli Ruffin (born Davis Eli Ruffin;[1] January 18, 1941 – June 1, 1991) was an American soul singer and musician most famous for his work as one of the lead singers of the Temptations (1964–68) during the group's "Classic Five" period as it was later known. Il est le chanteur principal du groupe The Temptations de 1964 à 1968, pendant la période dite « Classic Five » du groupe.
