Kim Althea Gordon (Rochester, 28 aprile 1953) è una musicista, compositrice e artista statunitense. Famosa per aver militato nel gruppo alternative/noise rock Sonic Youth come bassista, cantante e chitarrista, fa attualmente parte del supergruppo Free Kitten. Nel 1988, insieme a Sadie May e Lydia Lunch, pubblica l'album Naked in Garden Hills, sotto il nome di Harry Crews, band che ebbe una brevissima durata. Ha anche diretto, in collaborazione con Spike Jonze, il videoclip di Cannonball per le Breeders.

Biografia
Nata a Rochester, da padre sociologo e madre "casalinga con tendenze creative", cresce a Los Angeles, dove frequenta la University High School e, successivamente, l'Otis Art Institute. Dopo essersi laureata, la Gordon si trasferisce a New York, iniziandosi ad interessare alla scena musicale no-wave locale. Qui forma una band di breve durata, i CMK, con Christine Hahn e Stanton Miranda, e proprio attraverso quest'ultima inizia a frequentare Thurston Moore. Nel 1981, insieme a Lee Ranaldo, la coppia fonda i Sonic Youth.
Tre anni dopo Kim sposa Thurston Moore; la coppia ha una figlia, Coco Hayley Gordon-Moore. Nell'ottobre del 2011 hanno divorziato, in concomitanza dello scioglimento della band.
È comparsa nel film di Gus Van Sant Last Days, film-biografia su Kurt Cobain, leader del gruppo grunge Nirvana.

Kim Althea Gordon (born April 28, 1953) is an American musician, singer and songwriter, best known as the bassist, guitarist, and vocalist of alternative rock band Sonic Youth. Born in Rochester, New York, she was raised in Los Angeles, California, where her father was a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. After graduating from Los Angeles's Otis College of Art and Design, she moved to New York City to begin an art career. There, she formed Sonic Youth with Thurston Moore in 1981. She and Moore married in 1984, and the band released a total of six albums on independent labels before the end of the 1980s. They would subsequently release nine studio albums on the major label DGC Records, beginning with Goo in 1990. Gordon was also a founding member of the musical project Free Kitten, which she formed with Julia Cafritz in 1993.[es] Kim Gordon
