Biografia

Nata a New York, è figlia dell'attore Richmond Shepard. Sua madre ha abbandonato la famiglia solo quando lei aveva dieci anni, e suo padre dovette crescere da lei e le sue tre sorelle Rosetta, Luana e Brianna. Fin da età giovanissima ha studiato canto e pianoforte, e all'età di vent'anni già suonava nei club, facendosi conoscere anche a Los Angeles.

Il successo è arrivato con l'incontro di David E. Kelley, produttore della serie televisiva Ally McBeal, che le ha chiesto di realizzare la colonna sonora di tutte le stagioni di questa serie. Dopo la fine di Ally McBeal, la Shepard ha realizzato album di un genere musicale molto originale, un misto di blues, folk e country, con canzoni dai testi molto romantici e mai banali, supportati dalla sua voce decisamente notevole.

Vita privata

Dal 2004 è sposata con il musicista Mitchell Froom. Il 15 aprile 2006 ha avuto un figlio, Jack.

Vonda Shepard (born July 7, 1963) is an American singer, songwriter, music director and actress.[1] She appeared as a regular in the television show Ally McBeal, as a resident performer in the bar where the show's characters drank, danced and conversed after work. In 1998 she had a hit with the show's theme tune and soundtrack, "Searchin' My Soul".[1] Her version of Kay Starr's Christmas classic "(Everybody's Waitin' for) The Man with the Bag", after it was featured on a season 4 episode of Ally McBeal, became a popular holiday song.[2][3][4] She plays piano, bass guitar, and guitar. Vonda has sold over 12 million records worldwide and has won two Golden Globes and two Emmy awards. She has also won two Screen Actors Guild awards. She holds the record for selling the most television soundtrack albums in history and as a result has also won a Billboard award.
