Siren Song of the Counter Culture ist das dritte Studioalbum der US-amerikanischen Hardcore-Punk-Band Rise Against. Weiterhin war es das erste Album der Band bei einem Major-Label. Das Album wurde im Vereinigten Königreich am 9. August 2004, in den USA am 10. August 2004 und in Deutschland am 17. August 2004 veröffentlicht.[1] Das Album erreichte Platz 136 der Billboard-Charts (USA) sowie Platz 1 der Heatseekers Albums.[2]

Entstehung

Das Album wurde 2004 in den zwei kanadischen Studios The Warehouse Studio in Vancouver und Plumper Mountain Sound in Gibsons aufgenommen. Beide Studios liegen in der kanadischen Provinz British Columbia.

Musik

Da Siren Song of the Counter Culture das erste Album der Band bei einem Major-Label war, unterscheidet es sich in Sachen Produktion deutlich von den Vorgängeralben der Band, da es deutlich aufwendiger gestaltet wurde als noch Revolutions per Minute. Das Genre des Albums lässt sich mit Hardcore Punk, Progressive Rock sowie Melodic Hardcore beschreiben.

Die Kritiken zu Siren Song Of The Counter Culture fielen gemischt aus, vereinzelt wurde das Album jedoch mit Höchstnoten gelobt. So gab Michael Roberts von sputnikmusic.com dem Album 4.5 von 5 Punkten.[3]

Siren Song of the Counter Culture is the third studio album by American rock band Rise Against. Released on August 10, 2004, it was Rise Against's first album on a major record label, after the band signed with DreamWorks Records in September 2003. The recording sessions for the album with producer Garth Richardson were split between two studios in British Columbia. These sessions were marred by numerous distractions and inconveniences, such as the absorption of DreamWorks into Geffen Records, the arrival of a new guitarist, accusations of the band selling out, and the birth of lead vocalist Tim McIlrath's child.
