Продюсерами Songs from the Last Century стали американский продюсер Фил Рамон и сам Джордж Майкл, это был его первый альбом кавер-версий. Он включает главным образом, старые джазовые стандарты, плюс новые интерпретации более современных популярных песен, например, таких как «Roxanne» группы The Police и «Miss Sarajevo» U2 и Лучано Паваротти.

Этот альбом стал единственным в сольном каталоге певца, не достигшим первого места в британском хит-параде UK Albums Chart, пиком стало второе место. Первое место тогда заняла канадская кантри-певица Шанайя Твейн со своим мультиплатиновым альбомом Come On Over[4].

Songs from the Last Century is the fourth studio album by the English singer-songwriter George Michael, released on 6 December 1999 by Aegean Records and Virgin Records. Produced by Phil Ramone and George Michael, it was his only album of cover versions. It consists mainly of old jazz standards plus new interpretations of more recent popular songs, such as "Roxanne" by The Police and "Miss Sarajevo" by U2 and Brian Eno with Luciano Pavarotti. "Roxanne" was released as a single in other countries except the United Kingdom.
