Hintergrund

Snoop Dogg engagierte für die Aufnahme des Titels die Funkband The Dramatics, als Gast-Rapper Kurupt und Daz Dillinger sowie die Backgroundsängerin Nancy Fletcher. Als Sample wurde If It Ain’t One Thing, It’s Another aus dem 1982er Album Mr. Look So Good von Richard Fields verwertet.[1] Die Single blieb in den Billboard-Top-100-Charts ohne Notierung und konnte lediglich in der Sparten-Hitparade Rhythmic Top 40 einen 19. Platz erobern.[2] In Großbritannien belegte der Titel Platz 32 der Single-Charts.[3] 1995 war der Titel im 18-minütigen Film Murder was the Case: The Movie von Dr. Dre und Snoop Dogg enthalten.[1]

"Doggy Dogg World" is the third and final single from American rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg's debut album, Doggystyle. It is the first European-only release with an American video TV-play. It features 1970s-era classic R&B and soul group The Dramatics, with guest rap verses from Kurupt and Daz Dillinger (Tha Dogg Pound). It samples Richard "Dimples" Fields' "If It Ain't One Thing, It's Another" from his 1982 album: Mr. Look So Good. The song's title is a reference to a common eggcorn of the phrase "Dog-Eat-Dog World."
