Glory to the Brave (engl. für: „Ruhm für die Mutigen“) ist das erste Studioalbum der schwedischen Power-Metal-Band Hammerfall. Auch wenn sich die Band bereits 1993 gegründet hatte erschien dieses Album erst im Jahre 1997, da sich die Band zuvor vor allem mit Livemusik und Covern beschäftigt hatte. Bereits 1996 wurde das Album in Zusammenarbeit mit dem holländischen Label Vic Records in Holland veröffentlicht. Nachdem Anfang 1997 ein Vertrag mit dem deutschen Label Nuclear Blast unterzeichnet wurde, erfolgte – noch im gleichen Jahr – die europaweite Veröffentlichung.

Das Album wurde ein weltweiter Erfolg und stieg in Deutschland auf Platz 36 der Charts ein. Es löste einen neuen Metal-Boom in Europa aus, nachdem der traditionelle Heavy Metal im Laufe der 1990er Jahre bereits totgesagt worden war. Das deutsche Magazin Visions führte Glory to the Brave auf ihrer 2019 veröffentlichten Liste der 55 besten schwedischen Rockalben.[1]

Glory to the Brave is the debut album by the Swedish heavy metal band HammerFall, released in 1997. Despite the fact that the band was formed in 1993, HammerFall performed mostly live music and covers before this album was released. "Steel Meets Steel" was composed by Oscar Dronjak just before the band was formed and is included on this album. The band signed a deal with the Dutch label Vic Records. Nuclear Blast approached Vic Records and obtained a license deal for the album. Later, Nuclear Blast bought the entire rights from Vic Records. Although the In Flames guitarist Jesper Strömblad was listed as the drummer, all the drums were actually played by session musician Patrik Räfling, who joined the band as a full-time member shortly after the album's release.

Glory to the brave es el primer disco de la banda sueca de Heavy Metal HammerFall, editado en 1997. Fue su primer álbum a pesar del hecho de que la banda se formó en 1993 (hasta entonces interpretaban música en directo y covers. Steel meets steel fue compuesta por Oscar Dronjak justo cuando se formó la banda y fue incluida en el álbum. La banda había firmado un contrato con el sello danés Vic Records. Nuclear Blast se acercó a Vic Records y logró un acuerdo para el álbum debut. Más tarde Nuclear Blast compró todos los derechos a Vic Records.
