Hintergrund

Am 9. Mai 2011 wurde das Lied „The Edge of Glory“ als erste Promo-Single aus dem Album Born This Way veröffentlicht. Durch den schnellen Erfolg als Promo-Single wurde das Lied als dritte Singleauskopplung veröffentlicht. Statt „The Edge of Glory“ wurde deshalb „Hair“ am 16. Mai 2011 als erste Promo-Single veröffentlicht.

Kommerzieller Erfolg

„Hair“ erreichte die Top 3 der iTunes-Charts,[2] Platz 13 im Vereinigten Königreich,[3] in den Niederlanden Platz 15[4] und in Irland Platz 14.[5]

Written and produced by herself and Nadir "RedOne" Khayat, "Hair" was released worldwide digitally on May 16, 2011, as a promotional single from the album, as part of the iTunes Store's "Countdown to Born This Way" release. This was after the previous promotional release, "The Edge of Glory", was made the third single from the album.
