Song und Musikvideo

Drake betont im Song, das er von unten angefangen hat und nun erfolgreich ist.

Die Regie zum Musikvideo führte Director X. Das Video zeigt einerseits den reichen und erfolgreichen Drake vor seinem Bentley, beim Golfspielen und in einem Flugzeug. Gegengeschnitten sind humoristische Aufnahmen von Drakes als Mitarbeiter der Drogeriekette Shoppers Drug Mart. Zum Schluss des Videos feiern alle gemeinsam in einer großen Villa.

Rezeption

Das Magazin Rolling Stone zählte den Titel zu den 100 besten Songs des Jahres 2013 (Platz 9).[1]

Der Tiel wurde zwei mal bei den Grammy Awards 2014 nominiert, für den besten Rapsong und die beste Rap-Performance.[2]

"Started from the Bottom" is a song by Canadian hip hop recording artist Drake, released as the first single from his third studio album Nothing Was the Same.[3] The song was written by Drake, Michael Coleman, and Noah "40" Shebib, and it was produced by Coleman under his stage name Mike Zombie, with additional production by Shebib.[4][5] It features a sample of the ambient piece "Ambessence Piano & Drones 1" by Bruno Sanfilippo.[6] "Started from the Bottom" peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100.
