Under Cover ist das neunte Studioalbum des Musikers Ozzy Osbourne. Es wurde am 1. November 2005 veröffentlicht und enthält Coversongs der 1960er und 1970er Jahre.

Entstehung und Charterfolge

Ozzy Osbourne würdigte mit diesem Album Künstler, die ihn in jungen Jahren inspirierten. John Lennon ist mit drei Kompositionen am häufigsten vertreten. Osbourne nannte die Beatles als den Grund, wieso er mit der Musikkarriere begann.[1] Der Riff von Sunshine of Your Love inspirierte Black Sabbath zum Song NIB.

Das Album erhielt eher negative Kritiken[2] und erreichte lediglich Platz 67 in den britischen Charts, sowie Platz 95 in der Schweiz und Platz 134 in den Billboard 200.[3][4]

Das Gegenteil war bei der Single Changes, die als Bonustrack auf das Album genommen wurde, der Fall. Osbourne nahm 2003 die Ballade, ein Black Sabbath-Song vom Album Vol. 4, im Duett mit seiner Tochter Kelly neu auf. Die Single erreichte 2003 Rang eins in den britischen Charts.[3]

Under Cover is the ninth studio album by English heavy metal vocalist Ozzy Osbourne. The album consists entirely of cover songs, with an emphasis on hard rock from the 1960s and 1970s. This is Osbourne's first and only album to feature cover songs from various artists, although in 1982, Osbourne had released the live album Speak of the Devil featuring renditions of songs from his time with Black Sabbath. All but 4 songs were originally released in the box set Prince of Darkness, released earlier the same year. The additional songs are "Rocky Mountain Way", "Sunshine of Your Love", "Woman" and "Go Now".[3] Whilst he cites The Beatles as his favourite band, his favourite song of all time is Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale". He had wished to cover this song but was advised against it since it had recently been covered by a "close musical associate" [4] (then-former guitarist Zakk Wylde covered the song with his band Black Label Society on their 2004 album Hangover Music Vol. VI).
