"Can't Stop Writing Songs About You" is a song by Australian singer-songwriter Kylie Minogue and American singer Gloria Gaynor. The song was originally recorded and released in 2021 on the Guest List Edition of Minogue's fifteenth studio album Disco (2020).[1] In March 2022, it served as the third single promoting the reissue, and the sixth overall single from Disco.

Background and release


The song was proposed to Minogue during the original recording session for the album, but it was left off the track list. It was then recorded as a duet with Gaynor, after she had left a flattering comment on one of Kylie's social media pages.[2] The track was serviced to BBC Radio 2 in March 2022.


Production and composition


"Can't Stop Writing Songs About You" was co-written by Peter Wallevik, Daniel Davidsen, Iain James and Sinéad Harnett, and produced by the former two, collectively known as PhD. This is the only song on the album to which Minogue did not contribute as a co-writer. The track is written in the key of B minor, at a tempo of 101 beats per minute.


Music video


The song's music video was filmed in late 2021 and premiered on 31 March 2022.[3] It was directed by Sophie Muller.[4]
