"Happy" was recorded by British R&B group MN8.[6][7][8][9][10][11] It was released in July 1995 as the third single from their debut album, To the Next Level and peaked at number 8 on the UK Singles Chart,[12] 33 in Belgium,[13][14][15] number 1 in France[16] and number 11 in New Zealand.[17][18][19][20]
The track was also notably remixed by Dalvin DeGrate[21][22] of Jodeci. MN8's version is notably the highest charting version of the song and is often included in compilations.[23]
Music writer James Masterton described the song as "another immaculate slice of swingbeat pop and another smash hit to boot" in his weekly UK chart commentary.[24]
