Following the opening performance of the Milky Milky Milk Tour on November 19, Cyrus commented that crowd reaction distinguished "Lighter" as a fan favorite amongst her new material. She consequently premiered its accompanying music video, directed by herself and the Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne, through her Facebook profile on November 21.[1]
