The song ranked #95 on Billboard magazine's Top 100 singles of 1974.[4]
War re-released the song as a single in the UK in 1976 where it reached #21 on the UK Singles Chart.[5]

- That Petrol Emotion released a live version of the song on their 1987 EP Live 33RPM.[6]
- Stevie Salas released a version of the song on his 1998 album Cover Me in Noise.[7]
In popular culture
- Scream released a version of the song that appeared on the soundtrack for the 1993 film Bound by Honor.[8]
- In episode 5 of season 3 of The Wire, "Me and Baby Brother" is played during a scene where the characters Avon Barksdale and Stringer Bell are reunited.[9]
- In episode 4 of season 2 of Sneaky Pete, "Me and Baby Brother" is played during the closing credits.[10]
- The Killing Joke song "Change" bears a resemblance to "Me and Baby Brother", which Killing Joke have acknowledged.[11][12]
