The AllMusic review by Michael G. Nastos awarded the album 4 stars stating "As a standalone single CD, this recording, done over a three-year period and more than any other from Don Cherry, represents a full spectrum overview of all the phases in his nomadic adult musical life".[2]

Writer Michael Stephans commented: "the recording is vintage world music Cherry, and is mostly very enjoyable." He noted that a video of the concert, released in 1991, is "a thing to behold and to return to time and again, especially since it captures the essence of Cherry's live performances – joyful, uninhibited, energetic, and fun!"[4]
