"On the Wings of Love" peaked at #29 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, #13 R&B, and #7 Adult Contemporary. It did well in the UK, where it reached #11. It also hit #1 on the Canadian Adult Contemporary chart.[1]
The song became his biggest hit in the United Kingdom. Meanwhile in the United States, it was his biggest hit since the L.T.D. song "Back in Love Again", on which he was the lead singer.

It appears in a 2019 TV commercial for Amazon Prime. It was also covered by Kyla for the Filipino TV series of the same name. In the 4th episode of the 3rd season of The Office, Pam sings the song at the funeral. It was covered by Jeffrey Osborne, series finale of "Claws".
