Por la boca vive el pez has received positive reviews. According to Allmusic, the album is certainly one of the most accomplished collections of pop/rock songs to come out of Spain in recent times.

Por la boca vive el pez es el cuarto álbum de la banda Fito & Fitipaldis, grabado en los estudios Music Lan (Gerona) y producido por Joe Blaney. Lo lanzaron al mercado en 2006 y en menos de dos semanas ya habían vendido más de 100.000 copias. A mediados de mayo de 2007, tras 34 semanas de estar en la lista de los 50 discos más vendidos de España, la cifra de ventas ya había superado las 240.000.
