Ammonia Avenue es el séptimo álbum de estudio de The Alan Parsons Project.[1] Publicado en 1983 por Arista Records se convirtió en el segundo de los máximos éxitos comerciales del grupo siendo certificado oro por la RIAA.[2] El sencillo de difusión principal «Don't Answer Me» alcanzó el puesto 15 del Billboard Hot 100, convirtiéndose en el último gran "hit" de The Alan Parsons Project.[3] En menor medida «Prime Time», «Since The Last Goodbye» y «You Don't Believe» también obtuvieron cierta repercusión.[4]

Producción

El título del álbum fue inspirado por una visita de Eric Woolfson a una planta de la compañía química Imperial Chemical Industries ubicada en Billingham (noreste de Inglaterra). Lo primero que vio fue una larga calle desierta ocupada por tuberías con un cartel que rezaba 'Ammonia Avenue' (avenida del amoníaco). Esa ubicación se utilizó como diseño frontal del LP.[5]

El concepto del disco está enfocado sobre los pros y los contras de la ciencia aplicada al progreso industrial y los malentendidos y puntos de vista eventualmente negativos de la opinión pública al respecto.[6]

Ammonia Avenue is the seventh studio album by the British progressive rock band The Alan Parsons Project, released on 7 February 1984 by Arista Records. The Phil Spector-influenced "Don't Answer Me" was the album's lead single, and reached the Top 15 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Mainstream Rock Tracks charts, as well as the fourth position on the Adult Contemporary chart. The single also reached the Top 20 in several countries[4] and represents the last big hit for the Alan Parsons Project. "Prime Time" was a follow-up release that fared well in the Top 40, reaching No. 34. "You Don't Believe" was the first single in November 1983, reaching #54 on the Billboard Hot 100 and "Since the Last Goodbye" was a minor hit.
