Tra i vari produttori di quest'album troviamo Max Martin (produttore di vari artisti e specialmente di Britney Spears) e Cory Rooney (che non collaborava con la Lopez dal 2007). Come produttore esecutivo di A.K.A. c'è la stessa Jennifer Lopez, che ha anche collaborato alla scrittura di molte tracce presenti nell'album, tranne First Love, scritta da Max Martin.

Da A.K.A. sono stati estratti in totale quattro singoli: due promozionali, Girls (27 gennaio 2014) e Same Girl (4 febbraio 2014) e due ufficiali, I Luh Ya Papi (11 marzo 2014) e First Love (1º maggio 2014). Per promuovere il disco, la Lopez si è esibita ad American Idol, ha cantato l'inno dei Mondiali 2014 in Brasile e ha pubblicato sul suo canale VEVO ufficiale dei teaser video di tre brani presenti nell'album, che sono Emotions, Worry No More e Booty.

La Billboard ha stimato che A.K.A. non venderà oltre le 35 000 copie nella sua prima settimana negli Stati Uniti. Nel Regno Unito, A.K.A. ha raggiunto la posizione numero 41, il suo più basso risultato, perfino peggio di quello del 2007 con Brave (questo raggiunse la posizione 24). Negli Stati Uniti, il disco ha venduto nella prima settimana 33 000 copie, il suo peggior debutto. A.K.A, sebbene, come dichiarato dalla cantante, contenesse un nuovo tipo di sound e musica, sarebbe stato un buon successo ma l'album non ha ottenuto purtroppo il successo sperato, nonostante sia un disco nuovo e all'avanguardia.

A.K.A. (an acronym for Also Known As)[1] is the eighth studio album by American entertainer Jennifer Lopez. It was released on June 13, 2014, by Capitol Records. Lopez started working on the album in February 2013, after the end of her first worldwide tour, the Dance Again World Tour. Originally scheduled to be released in November 2013, Lopez postponed the album release to 2014. Undecided between Same Girl and A.K.A. as the album's title, Lopez eventually chose the latter as the title.

A.K.A. (acrónimo de Also Know As) es el octavo álbum de estudio de la cantante estadounidense Jennifer Lopez, lanzado el 13 de junio de 2014 por Capitol Records.[1] López comenzó a trabajar en el álbum en febrero de 2013, después de haber finalizado su primera gira musical Dance Again World Tour.[2] Inicialmente era RedOne el que iba a producir A.K.A.,[3] en el cual prometió mezclar diversos estilos musicales: R&B, pop, y música latina.[3] Sin embargo, fueron Cory Rooney y Benny Medina los que se convirtieron más tarde en sus productores ejecutivos, con lo que le dio una visión más urbana al álbum.[4] A principios de 2014, López lanzó dos pistas imbuidas bajo el estilo urban como sencillos promocionales del álbum: «Girls» y «Same Girl».[5] Al lado del frecuentemente contribuidor y amigo personal Pitbull, el álbum contó también con las colaboraciones de French Montana, T.I., Iggy Azalea, Rick Ross, Nas, Jack Mizrahi y Tyga.[4]
