Descrizione
Si tratta del primo disco dopo la fine della relazione sentimentale tra Lisa Gerrard e Brendan Perry e tra i temi principali dell'album vi è proprio l'amore finito. Tra i dieci brani contenuti vi sono anche Saltarello e The Song of the Sibyl, versioni riarrangiate di due brani rispettivamente appartenenti alla tradizione popolare italiana e catalana.[3]
La copertina del disco presenta un particolare dettaglio del Trittico del Giardino delle delizie del pittore olandese Hieronymus Bosch.

Aion is the fifth studio album by the Australian band Dead Can Dance, released on 11 June 1990 by 4AD. Es el álbum más representativo del estilo del grupo al contener una amplia gama de melodías, sonidos e instrumentos antiguos, recuperados de la edad media y del renacimiento, con el objetivo de representar la música de esta época. La influencia de las creaciones medievales se hace directa en temas como The Song of the Sibyl, cuya letra es una edición de una canción católica catalana del mismo nombre.
