Descrizione
Il brano venne composto nel 2001 dal chitarrista Billy Howerdel con il titolo Red, ispirandosi agli attentati dell'11 settembre dello stesso anno.[2] Il titolo fu poi cambiato in Blue durante le sessioni di registrazione di Thirteenth Step su decisione del cantante Maynard James Keenan.[3]
Il testo, in linea con il resto dell'album, tratta della tematica della dipendenza e in particolare delle conseguenze di un'overdose.[4]
Video musicale
Per il video musicale il gruppo ha indetto un concorso invitando i fan a creare un videoclip il più «creativo, notevole e fantasioso» possibile.[5][6] Il video vincitore è stato quello diretto da Joseph Perez, incluso insieme agli altri tre migliori canditati nel DVD dell'album Amotion.[7]

"Blue" is a song by American rock band A Perfect Circle. It was the third single from the band's second studio album, Thirteenth Step, behind the releases of the singles "Weak and Powerless" and "The Outsider". While not as successful as the prior two singles, which crossed over into the Billboard Hot 100 charts and hit the top 5 of the Mainstream Rock charts, the song was still a moderate success, peaking at number 19 on the latter chart. A remix version, "Blue (Bird Shake mix)", was created by guitarist James Iha and released on the band's compilation album Amotion as well, and also received radio airplay.- [it] Blue (A Perfect Circle)
