È considerato il loro disco più famoso nonché uno dei capitoli più riusciti ed influenti del metal anni novanta. L'album vede l'entrata del bassista Christian Olde Wolbers.

A differenza dell'esordio Soul of a New Machine, Demanufacture risulta essere meno aggressivo e più elettronico, anche se i canoni stilistici sono pressoché gli stessi (voce growl alternata al cantato melodico, riff chitarristici e groove batteristici di chiara scuola metal estremo).

Il disco è un concept album che parla di un uomo che vuole ribellarsi ad un governo comandato dalle macchine cibernetiche e ogni brano racconta una parte della sua vita. Il gruppo ha affermato che il film Terminator ha influenzato molto l'elaborazione del disco. Il brano Zero Signal venne inserito nella colonna sonora del film Mortal Kombat e una sua versione strumentale nel gioco Carmageddon Reincarnation.

Demanufacture (von englisch manufacture: fertigen, fabrizieren, etwa: defabrizieren) ist das zweite Studioalbum der US-amerikanischen Metal-Band Fear Factory. Es erschien im Juni 1995 bei Roadrunner Records. Es gilt als Klassiker und wurde als eines der „herausragendsten und wichtigsten Metalalben der Neunziger“ bezeichnet.[1] Zu dem Death-Metal-ähnlichen Stil des Vorgängeralbums Soul of a New Machine kamen auf der Platte zunehmend Industrial-Metal-Elemente sowie Synthesizer- und Stimmeffekte hinzu. Als Videos wurden 1995 Replica und 1996 das Coverstück Dog Day Sunrise veröffentlicht.

Demanufacture is the second studio album by American heavy metal band Fear Factory, released on June 13, 1995 by Roadrunner Records. Burton C. Bell wrote the majority of the lyrics and Dino Cazares wrote all the music. This is the band's first album with their classic line-up, adding new bassist Christian Olde Wolbers. Although credited, his actual input is disputed between current and former band members. Many regard it as the band's best album and a heavy metal classic.[3] The album was certified Gold in Australia by ARIA and Silver in the UK by the BPI.[4]
