Il disco rappresenta l'ultimo capitolo della trilogia di mixtape pubblicati dall'artista nel 2011 ed è composto da nove brani, tra cui una reinterpretazione di Dirty Diana di Michael Jackson intitolata semplicemente D.D..[3]


Promozione


Echoes of Silence è stato distribuito per il download gratuito attraverso il sito ufficiale dell'artista.[2] Un anno più tardi, precisamente il 13 novembre 2012, il disco è stato ripubblicato in edizione rimasterizzata all'interno della raccolta Trilogy, che racchiude anche gli altri due mixtape pubblicati da The Weeknd nel 2011, House of Balloons e Thursday.[4]

Echoes of Silence is the third mixtape by Canadian singer the Weeknd, released on December 21, 2011, by XO.[1] Like his debut mixtape House of Balloons and his second mixtape Thursday, the Weeknd collaborated with musician Illangelo; who produced the majority of the project.[2] The project also featured first-time collaborations with producers Clams Casino and DropXLife and a spoken-word interlude from rapper Juicy J.[3] Lyrically, Echoes of Silence contains similar themes to the Weeknd's previous projects, exploring his drug use and experiences with love. The project was preceded by the release of the promotional single "Initiation" on October 10, 2011.[4]
