L'album


L'album è del tutto acustico, senza parti di chitarra distorta e pochissime parti di voce in growl.

Dall'album è stato anche ricavato un videoclip, fatto per l'ottava traccia: Omnos.

La band aveva annunciato che il seguito di questo album, che si sarebbe intitolato Evocation II: Visions, sarebbe uscito verso dicembre 2009. Più avanti, invece, la band annunciò che il prossimo album ad uscire sarebbe stato Everything Remains (As It Never Was) e che sarebbe stato pubblicato il 19 febbraio 2010.

Evocation I – The Arcane Dominion (engl. für Beschwörung – Die geheimnisvolle Herrschaft) ist das dritte Studioalbum der Schweizer Folk-Metal-Band Eluveitie. Es handelt sich um ein Akustikalbum, das am 17. April 2009 unter dem deutschen Plattenlabel Nuclear Blast veröffentlicht wurde. Die Single-Auskopplung Omnos wurde bereits am 20. März 2009 veröffentlicht. Direkt nach erscheinen des Albums wurde von der Band eine Fortsetzung des Albums unter dem Titel Evocation II – […] angekündigt und seitdem auch öfters in Interviews bestätigt. Dieses wurde mit dem Namenszusatz Pantheon letztendlich am 18. August 2017 ebenfalls bei Nuclear Blast veröffentlicht[1][2]

Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion is the third studio album by Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie. It was released on 17 April 2009 through Nuclear Blast. Contrary to their previous works, this album is almost entirely acoustic. The vocals are primarily handled by hurdy-gurdy player Anna Murphy. The album cover represents Cernunnos, a Celtic deity of nature. The lyrics are partly based on Gaulish inscriptions, e.g. "A Girl's Oath" uses the text of the Larzac tablet, and "Dessumiis Luge" that of the Chamalières tablet.
