Storia del brano


La canzone nasce da un precedente brano, mai registrato, intitolato Nothing Is Written, risalente al 2010.[9][10] La prima versione del brano fu presentata durante un'esibizione ai Grammy Awards, con l'assenza del ritornello [I will wait / I will wait for you] e un arrangiamento basato sul ritmo acustico dell'arpeggio con le dita, eseguito da Marcus Mumford.[11]


Accoglienza della critica


La canzone ha ricevuto recensioni generalmente favorevoli. Grady Smith dell'Entertainment Weekly ha dato alla canzone una recensione positiva, dicendo che la canzone "risuona familiare come il singolo nominato ai Grammy, The Cave, con il suo ritornello gridato, trombe trionfanti, una grancassa in sottofondo e un testo serio su un rapporto così perfetto, che Marcus Mumford si inginocchia in riverenza, alzando le mani e desiderando che la sua mente sia "liberata dalle menzogne".[12][13] Stephanie Middleton del Celebrity Cafe ha detto: "Con voci e armonie intoccate, i ragazzi riescono a creare un'altra vera canzone, stile Mumford & Sons."[14]

"I Will Wait" is a song by British rock band Mumford & Sons. The track was first released in the United States on 7 August 2012 as the lead single from the band's second studio album, Babel (2012).[1] The song sold 153,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release[2] and became their highest-charting song both in the US and the UK to date, peaking at number 12 in both countries. It also reached the top ten in the New Zealand, Irish, Canadian and Scottish national charts, and was voted into fifth place in Australian radio station Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2012. The song is playable in the video game Guitar Hero Live.
