Descrizione

Al pari dell'altro singolo Jumpsuit, uscito nel medesimo giorno, il testo, molto criptico, parla di Clancy, perseguitato dalle sue paure personificate dai "vescovi" (bishops) che controllano la fittizia città di Dema, materializzazione della depressione[5]. Mentre Jumpsuit ha un approccio più rock, Nico and the Niners è stata descritta come un «reggae rap psichedelico»[1].

Il videoclip, diretto da Andrew Donoho, è stato pubblicato il 26 luglio 2018. Insieme a quelli di Jumpsuit e di Levitate, è parte di una trilogia di video dove viene raccontata la fuga del personaggio fittizio Clancy dalla città di Dema.
