Retribution è il primo album registrato dalla band technical progressive death metal tedesca Obscura. Pubblicato nel 2006 dalla Vots Records, verrà poi rimasterizzato e ristampato dalla Relapse Records con delle variazioni il 16 febbraio 2010.

Nel Giappone è stato pubblicato con due bonus track in più il 10 febbraio dello stesso anno.

L'album

L'album presenta già degli sperimentalismi che si evolveranno in futuro ma, rimane ancora legato al death metal classico.

Quando l'album è stato ripubblicato alla traccia numero 7 Intoxicated è stato cambiato il titolo in Hate Anthem.

La traccia strumentale che lo chiudeva (Sweet Silence), anche se presente su disco, è stata stranamente omessa sul retro del CD. Ripristinata nella ristampa del 2012.

Del nuovo artwork se ne occupato lo stesso disegnatore dei successivi album: Orion Landau.

Retribution is the debut album by German technical death metal band Obscura. It was recorded in August 2004 and released 2 years later in August 2006 on Vots Records. After the band signed to Relapse Records and released Cosmogenesis, they decided to reissue Retribution. The reissue, which was remastered, was released in 2010 and featured bonus tracks plus new artwork.
