Il Disco
Rock Island è l'album che viene immediatamente dopo i successi di Crest of a Knave e dell'antologia 20 Years of Jethro Tull e anche per questo motivo passato un po' in sordina. Esso contiene canzoni di buonissimo livello quali Kissing Willie o Heavy Water, ma anche altre forse troppo pompose tanto da rendere il disco fin troppo pesante. Come in Crest of a Knave è molto forte l'utilizzo della chitarra elettrica ma il risultato non è il medesimo, come spesso accade dopo un successo quale è stato appunto il precedente album.
Si registra il ritorno del tastierista Peter-John Vettese in alcune tracce anche se il tastierista ufficiale è Martin Allcock.

Rock Island is the 17th studio album by the British rock group Jethro Tull, released in 1989. The album continued the hard rock direction the band took on the previous effort, Crest of a Knave (1987). The line-up now included Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, Dave Pegg and drummer Doane Perry in his first full recording with the band, although he had already been a member of Jethro Tull since 1984.
