Descrizione

Registrato durante l'estate del 1989 tra Atlanta e Los Angeles, questo album è fortemente influenzato dal rock degli anni settanta, in particolare The Rolling Stones e Faces, contrastando con la scena musicale dei primi anni novanta, caratterizzata dall'esplosione del grunge a Seattle. L'album prende il nome da una canzone di Elmore James, che il gruppo non ha mai suonato dal vivo fino a Live at the Greek (2000) con Jimmy Page.

Furono estratti cinque singoli, tra cui la cover di Otis Redding Hard to Handle e la ballad acustica She Talks to Angels, che raggiunsero la prima posizione nella classifica Mainstream Rock Airplay.[5] L'intero album invece, dopo un inizio a rilento, scalò la classifica settimanale fino al quarto posto e concluse al terzo in quella annuale del 1991.[5] In totale vendette oltre cinque milioni di copie.

In occasione del trentesimo anniversario è uscita una edizione deluxe con tre dischi, che includono l'album originale rimasterizzato, una raccolta di inediti e lati B, e un disco dal vivo registrato ad Atlanta.[6]
