La band in questi ultimi anni ha subito molti cambiamenti di formazione e soprattutto ha avuto (come in passato) enormi problemi legati alla droga e addirittura la carriera stessa del gruppo sembrava chiusa. Dal disco traspare il classico thrash metal caratteristico della band. Dietro la batteria c'è Paul Bostaph, prima volta con gli Exodus, che batte ritmi velocissimi e fa un largo uso della doppia cassa. Buona tecnica e buon album per un gruppo molto trascurato nel panorama thrash metal. Nel disco è inoltre presente una bonus track.

Shovel Headed Kill Machine ist das siebte Studioalbum der US-amerikanischen Thrash-Metal-Band Exodus. Es wurde am 4. Oktober 2005 von Nuclear Blast veröffentlicht und ist das erste Album mit Sänger Rob Dukes, Gitarrist Lee Altus sowie das erste und einzige Album mit Schlagzeuger Paul Bostaph.

Shovel Headed Kill Machine is the seventh studio album by the American thrash metal band Exodus, released on October 4, 2005 through Nuclear Blast. It's the first album to feature new vocalist Rob Dukes, after the departure of Steve "Zetro" Souza during the band's South American tour in support of the band's previous album Tempo of the Damned. It is also the band's first studio album not to feature Rick Hunolt on guitars, with Lee Altus as his replacement, and the only Exodus album to feature Paul Bostaph on drums after Tom Hunting's second departure as a result of the reoccurrence of the illness that prompted him to depart in 1989. Shovel Headed Kill Machine sold over 3,000 copies in its first week of release in the U.S.[6]

Shovel Headed Kill Machine (с англ. — «Лопатоголовая машина убийств») — седьмой студийный альбом американской трэш-метал группы Exodus. Выпущен 4 октября 2005 года на лейбле Nuclear Blast. Данная пластинка записана в обновлённом на 3/5 составе. Для записи альбома были приглашены новые участники: место вокалиста занял Роб Дьюкс, он заменил Стива «Зетро» Сузу, Рика Ханолта на гитаре заменил Ли Элтус, а также за барабаны сел Пол Бостаф, для которого данная запись с Exodus является единственной. 3000 копий альбома было продано в первую неделю продаж, а к январю 2007 года только в США было продано уже более 23000 копий альбома.
