Il brano
Questo brano è stato scritto originariamente per il nono album della band Monuments to an Elegy da Billy Corgan e prodotto da Rick Rubin, che precedentemente aveva lavorato al brano Let Me Give the World to You durante le sessioni di Adore.[2] Nelle intenzioni del gruppo dovrebbe essere il primo brano di due EP la cui pubblicazione è programmata per il 2018. È stato presentato per la prima volta in televisione nazionale statunitense al Tonight Show presentato da Jimmy Fallon l'11 giugno 2018.[3]
Ha raggiunto il 26º posto nella classifica Mainstream Rock Songs negli Stati Uniti.[4]

Nel video musicale del brano, diretto da Nick Koenig[5] compare il leader Billy Corgan tenuto prigioniero in uno strano luogo. Dopo essere riuscito a fuggire trova un mondo esterno ancora più inquietante e alla fine torna spontaneamente alla sua prigionia. In alcune brevi sequenze compaiono anche gli altri tre membri della band.

"Solara" is a song by American rock band Smashing Pumpkins. It was the band's first song to be released after reforming three fourths of the band's original lineup in 2018,[4] featuring Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin performing on a track together for the first time since 2000's Machina/The Machines of God album[5] and subsequent non-album single "Untitled"[6] prior to their original breakup. It was released as a single on June 8, 2018, as the first song from a set of two upcoming EPs that were set for release in 2018 before a full-length album titled Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past.
