Stay the Night è un singolo del DJ tedesco Zedd, pubblicato il 10 settembre 2013 in promozione della Deluxe Edition del suo album di debutto, Clarity. Il brano vede la collaborazione di Hayley Williams, cantante del gruppo musicale rock statunitense Paramore[7]. Il 5 novembre è stato pubblicato l'EP Stay the Night - The Remixes, contenente tre versioni diverse e cinque remix del brano.

Il brano


Il testo, cantato interamente da Hayley Williams, parla di una coppia che si sta per lasciare ma che vuole comunque passare un'ultima sera insieme[8]. In particolare, Williams ha detto:

«La canzone parla di due persone che sanno di non essere proprio fatti l'uno per l'altra, ma tra di loro c'è comunque un qualcosa... quindi ho scritto sul fatto di essere un fuoco e di essere con un'altra persona che è benzina.»

Inizialmente scettica alla proposta di collaborare al brano, Hayley Williams ha deciso di parteciparvi scrivendone il testo e cantandolo solo dopo aver ascoltato la demo mandatale da Zedd[9].


Video musicale


Il video, pubblicato il 23 settembre 2013 e diretto da Daniel "Cloud" Campos (che già in passato ha collaborato con Williams per il video di Now dei Paramore), alterna scene di Hayley Williams che canta ad altre dove Zedd suona un pianoforte ed altre dove due ballerini impersonano la coppia di cui si parla nella canzone[8]. Parlando del video Zedd ha detto:

«Le riprese e il montaggio del video sono state semplici ma incisive. Ho visto le riprese di Hayley fatte il giorno prima delle mie, e sono rimasto impressionato. Hayley ha fatto la parte difficile, io ho solo suonato il piano!»

L'8 gennaio 2014 è stato pubblicato il video ufficiale della versione acustica del brano, realizzata sempre insieme a Hayley Williams per l'EP di Zedd iTunes Session, pubblicato il 19 novembre 2013.

Stay the Night (englisch für „Übernachten“) ist ein Lied des deutsch-russischen EDM-Musikers Zedd, in Kooperation mit der US-amerikanischen Sängerin und Paramore-Frontfrau Hayley Williams. Das Stück ist die fünfte Singleauskopplung aus seinem Debütalbum Clarity.[1]

"Stay the Night" is a song by Russian-German electronic dance music producer Zedd, from the deluxe edition (2013) of his debut studio album, Clarity (2012). It features vocals from Hayley Williams, the lead singer of American rock group Paramore. The song was written by Zedd, Williams, Benjamin Eli Hanna (believed to be a secret moniker of Nate Ruess[4]), and Carah Faye. "Stay the Night" was released to digital retailers on September 10, 2013, by Interscope Records as the lead single off the deluxe edition of Clarity, and the fourth overall single from the album.
